Most markets have a huge ornate Christmas tree and a place where children can meet Father Christmas. Fun fairs and artificial ice rinks are common, as are charming nativity scenes and cultural shows. The Dickens Festival

The old city of Bergkwartier hosts the interesting Dickens Festival each year. It offers a weekend of fun and glimpses into life in Victorian England. Literary characters such as Miss Havisham, David Copperfield, Oliver Twist, Fagin, Scrooge, and Samuel Pickwick can be found roaming the streets, and you nay even see Queen Victoria in all her pomp ad splendor! Period costumes add to the wonderful atmosphere, and you can mingle with ragged orphans, drunkards, street urchins, clerical workers, and well to do folk.

Ice Skating

Ice skating is a really popular thing to do in winter in Holland. Many lakes and rivers freeze, with ice solid enough to skate upon. You can even skate in many of the cities, with artificial rinks providing icy fun for all.

Holland is known for its great selection of winter foods and drinks. Kruidenbitter is a common liquor in the country, and there are various types of local Dutch beers. Food wise, try smoked sausages, pea soup, mashed vegetables, and more!

The old theme park really knows how to do winter! Visitors can enjoy skating, rides, various entertainment, and campfires, all beneath wonderfully enchanting lights. It is a great place for the whole family to enjoy together.

Mirakels Kerstland Brederode

Amongst the old ruins of Brederole you will find the enticing Mirakels Kerstland Brederode. There is a big wheel, sleigh rides, slides, rides, a selection of great market stalls, and numerous places to eat and drink. Little ones can go and meet Father Christmas for some Christmassy awe.
