Welcome to the land of the Sound of Music! The fourth-largest city in Austria, Salzburg is known for its splendid Old Town (Altstadt). It is internationally renowned for its stunning baroque architecture and is one of the best-preserved historic city centres north of the Alps.

Hohensalzburg Fortress

Hohensalzburg Fortress, built in 1077, is the biggest fully preserved fortress in central Europe. A large fortress, it sits at an altitude of 506 metres. Located on top of a mountain, the Festung, visitors can enjoy breath-taking views of Salzburg and the Alps. It’s easy to spend at least half a day up here, roaming around the ramparts and exploring various wings and courtyards. Make sure that you don’t miss the impressive Golden Hall with its magnificent state apartments, massive marble pillars, and a stretching wooden supporting beam.

Take a Sound of Music Tour

Enjoy a day trip visiting the picturesque landscapes and locations and explore the historic setting of the famous classic, The Sound of Music. See the beautiful Salzkammergut Lake and Mountain Region and learn about the Von Trapp Family. One of the most beautiful parts of the trip is Wolfgangsee Lake – you’re sure to take lots of pictures! Built in 1606, the beautiful palace, along with its gardens, is a listed cultural heritage monument and an important sight in Salzburg. Outside, you can enjoy a peaceful stroll through the pretty gardens, inhaling the scents of the flowers and admiring the various colours and shapes. The Garden of Dwarfs and the Garden of Roses are particularly lovely.


A top attraction for all beer lovers, this is the biggest private brewery in the entire country. Brewing and bottling since 1492, visitors can take a tour and experience the traditional beer magic! You will take in the different stages of the brewing process, learn more about the brewery’s history, and also be able to see the world’s tallest beer tower! The beer experience starts with a unique short movie and visitors can then see the in-house brewing facilities, find out everything about the drink’s raw ingredients, and learn lots of fascinating facts about the world of beer. And, of course, you can also sample the local brew!
